About me:   I have played the piano since I was 6, so can read music well.  I fell in love with the hammered dulcimer at a medieval fayre in the States about 5 years ago, and brought one back on a subsequent visit, and started trying to play from a book.  this was quite hard-going, and I did not get properly motivated until I joined the NDC about 18 months ago, and then went to Launde 2003.  After that, I was really hooked, and I now try to play every day.  The dulcimer stands in the lounge, so I often stop to play a tune as I pass!  I found it difficult at first, after the piano, to reverse what my right and left hand do in terms of bass and treble!  I have at last removed all the prompt notes from my dulcimer, and feel I am getting to intermediate level, tho' I have a long way to go.  I have been to York, Cork, Cornwall, Fylde and Launde again, this year, and look forward to meeting up with other players, as it is so refreshing, and one learns such a lot from these meetings.  My other interests are bobbin-lace-making, embroidery, photography, gardening, I belong to a choir, and of course, my 3 children and 5 grandchildren, not to mention my other half, of course! the joys of retirement! I offered to help on the committee, as I felt I wanted to "play my part", and also to meet other players, and hopefully extend my playing skill
